Lake Camera Maintenance
Finds Cost Solution in 2018 Budget;
Delayed Service for Cams Continues

The last set of two (2) Lake cameras was purchased approximately five (5) years ago by private money and its continuing maintenance was also donated privately. These two cameras were an experiment in 24/7 streaming double coverage and precision digital quality with night vision. Both have been well received and that process of "welcome" and acceptance can be seen in the budget process.

Several years ago, one-half of the maintenance tab was picked up by the SLI budget and this year the second half of maintenance costs has been included in the 2018 budget. This is good news since raising money for maintenance costs is not easy. The potential for capital investment, however, still remains in the realm of donations and money-raising, as it probably should be. Consider what has been happening with the purchase of new office equipment, new tables, new chairs, new sound system, and new keyboard, for example--each raised by private donations.

Those in charge of the cameras, however, have been frustrated by the installer company's lack of responsive maintenance service. While Wyoming County is not a hot bed for the streaming industry, we believe if you hang your shingle out to provide service, your location should not matter, the service should be provided. Trying to get service from a more distant location such as Monroe or Erie County, would add significantly to the cost. Anyone who thinks they may have knowledge or information about maintenance for a streaming camera computer system should contact Suzanne Bristow at weefellinn@aol.com.
