Trustee Board to be Asked to Approve New Plans from 3 of its Standing Committees this Saturday

The Program Committee met immediately after the Breakfast Cafe to agree that it was time for a change--and probably more than one. So they went about setting up a basic framework for the change along with a basic plan for next season's programs. It's tempting to give you more details but the Board President prefers that the Board hear some of the many new ideas at their meeting this Saturday, as opposed to learning about things "through the press." For those unable to attend the Board meeting, this News.Blog will carry the details Saturday afternoon as they are perfected for the 2018 program year.

The Worship Committee met briefly Sunday to hear the Chaplain talk about some of the conversations that a few of our year-round residents have been talking about. It seems that at least some would like to see SLI low-key activities expanded into the "Off Season" or winter months. Those ideas along with another "trial balloon" idea for next June will also be shared at the 10 am meeting of the Board this Saturday. Once again, many more of the details will be available by Saturday afternoon right here in these electronic pages.

The Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) will be reporting that the installation of the historical markers is imminent, just no concrete commitment of specific day by Sign Language. The big new idea is not brand new, yet remains overall new. The LRPC has decided to adopt or endorse a general plan for prospective members (property purchasers) which was put informally and unofficially in place within the Blog by the News.Blog as a guide for persons perusing the Classified Ads Section and specifically the Real Estate page. The statements and content found in the Blog is a compilation of ideas heard and discussed throughout the Institute and put into an unofficial format to be helpful both to those reading about available properties and helpful to SLI by having prospective buyers informed.

The Blog's material is presented mostly as voluntary including what it refers to as the "opportunity to request an 'Orientation/Welcome Meeting' so as to meet SLI folks and hear what SLI is about directly from them." At least one vocal LRPC member announced Sunday morning that he was in favor of the "Orientation/Welcome Meeting" being mandatory as opposed to voluntary for the sake of the future of the SLI. He also said he thought that all residents ought to be "in sympathy" with the SLI purposes as a minimum. The Blog's material has this applying also to those who inherit property if they have not been involved up to the point of name transfer. The News.Blog has no objections to having the LRPC propose its material be modified or amended and even eventually adopted as "official" if that's the direction the Board desires to go.
