George Dovolos, 'Mayor of
Silver Lake,' Passed on Tuesday

George Dovolos, former owner of The Hole In The Wall and resident here at Silver Lake, passed  on October 15th, 2019. Calling hours are at Eaton Watson Funeral Home tomorrow (Friday) the 18th from 3-7 p.m. Services at 7 p.m.

George Dovolos
George N. Dovolos, 72, of Perry, N.Y. passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 at Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home in Perry. He was born in Warsaw, N.Y. on July 2, 1947 a son to the late Nicholas G. and Georgia (Strate) Dovolos.

George was a 1966 graduate of Perry Central School. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War.



George was the former owner/operator of the Hole in the Wall Restaurant in Perry. After selling the business, George started back to work for Letchworth State Park working in the interpretative department where he started the first free family fishing day which is held every Memorial Day weekend and was also the fire safety officer at the park.

George is a member of the Perry Church of Christ in Perry. To many George was known as the “Mayor of Silver Lake.” He enjoyed playing his base guitar, he was a silver smith and stone cutter who made jewelry, he was an avid fisherman who also made lures and fishing rods and was a die-hard Buffalo Bill’s fan.

He is survived by his wife: Cheryl (Hull) Dovolos whom he married on March 5, 1986, three sons: Nicholas (Courtney) Dovolos, Samuel (Jessica Knapp) Dovolos and Joshua (Marissa) Dovolos all of Perry, a brother: Thomas Dovolos of Schenectady, mother-in-law: Loretta Clark of Wyoming, four granddaughters: Abigail, Lydia, Elaina and Georgia Marie who will be born in February of 2020, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 7 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry.

Memorial contributions can be made to Suzanne’s Comfort Care Home 167 N. Main St. Perry, NY 14530.
