The dawn's early light this Sunday morning revealed a fresh coating of pure white snow and within the hour of this revelation, the SLI "plow truck" was on the job clearing what appeared to be easily 2 inches. The obvious question: Is this 2 inch snow fall the one forecast for 7 am to Noon, or is there more on the way shortly? Where's that groundhog when one needs him; maybe he knows.
Actually, statistically speaking, the groundhog is only correct in his "wintery" prediction 39% percent of the time. Statisticians indicate that one, overall, can be more accurate by the flipping of a coin, which, over time, with come out to be 50%.
Setting that aside for the time being, Ground Hog's Day is this next coming Saturday, as is the Mid-Winter Survivors' Party at Koinonia (4 pm). A donation of $5 gets you pizza, cake, ice cream, hot and cold drinks and tons of fun and fellowship. It's the special "wintery" occasion planned especially for the year-round residents of SLI. The kindest thing you can do today or in the next couple of days, is call in your intention to be there so we can be totally prepared. We're looking forward to being with you this 2019 Ground Hog's Day.
