For those of you who do not have employer health coverage:Congratulations! The 2019 ACA (Affordable Care Act) enrollment period has been shortened to 45 days (Nov 1-Dec 15). You're not seeing advertising about the enrollment window online or on TV because the White House wants the program to fail. And mysteriously this year the ACA website is down on Sundays for "maintenance."
Fortunately, your friends are posting this and using the word "congratulations " so it gets posted more frequently in Newsfeed by FB algorithms. Please copy and paste, NOT share. Make sure to REWRITE the words congrats so they turn red or this doesn't work. [Note: I confirmed these statements via SNOPE]
*separate note: NY State of Health enrollment doesn’t start until 11/16, but you can still fill out your application early, so make sure to take care of that. I’m not sure if that means people in NY State have even less time to enroll, but I wouldn’t take any chances.
UPDATE -- From their website: “If you don't log in to update your application and enroll in a plan by December 15, 2018, you may be automatically enroled in a 2019 plan. Automatic enrollment is a good fallback. But the best way to make sure you have a 2019 plan that works for you, with the savings you qualify for, is to log in, update your application, and view all your plan options for 2019.”
