Evidence of Summer Season
Seen All Around SLI

This was going to be a pictorial story, but the day-long fog made it impractical. We aren't giving up yet on the photos. A walk around the Institute contains many reminders of the wonderful days that were. Even the sign board still stands behind the home plate fence in Burt Park along Perry Ave. with one of the last advertisements still posted.

Most boats are in their assigned marina and waterfront slots awaiting either the next warm day or winter storage. The speed bumps remain in place as a reminder of family gatherings and children bounding on and off of Wesley and Lakeview Avenues. The pillars which now grace the two entranceways of the Ames Walkway have not yet been removed and stored for winter, so we are enjoying their first year to the fullest. The Arbor over Heritage Walkway surrounded on two sides by beautiful gardens remains invitingly in place to warm the heart before winter storage.

There are picnic tables still in place on the Dock bringing back memories of family activities and Wednesday's Desserts on the Dock. The memories are enhanced by the physical factors not yet stored for the winter. These observations are the opposite of a complaint; they are expressed in appreciation for the gentle reminders of the fun days that were--just a few short weeks ago.
