This past summer season, the Long-Range Planning Committee agreed to take on the project of updating and revising the Silver Lake Institute's Handbook. This is the rule book with which residents of SLI agree to live together when they first purchase, inherit, or rent property on the grounds of the Institute. Many parts of its contents are considered valuable since many of the SLI cottages are situated very close together. The Legal Committee has agreed to accept their generous offer.
Members of the Committee have already prepared new historical paragraphs as background information to be included in the Handbook. An Institute history was written by Don Weaver, and an architectural history was written by Nancy Culley Sellar. Initially, committee chair Bob Cook, hopes it will be possible to complete the update suggestions for the Board of Trustees by the end of this upcoming summer season.
