Witness Left to Call CPS:
Salamone told officers he 'blacked out'

Michael B. Salamone, 25, the Perry man arrested in March 17 and charged with throwing a puppy, was arrested again August 3 on child abuse charges for allegedly breaking a 10 month old infant’s femur, village police said. At the time he was charged with second-degree assault for causing injury to a person less than 7 years old and endangering the welfare of a child.

Further investigation has now revealed Salamone told officers that he grabbed the child's arm and "blacked out." He said he realized that he "must have done something to the baby after," Chief Michael Grover said. But it was a witness who saw the baby's bruised arm and who contacted CPS the next day. CPS checked the home with PPD and hospitalized the infant. Salamone's bail was set at $50,000 and his next court date is Sept. 13. Additional charges are pending said the Chief, still working on it with the DA.
