Item 1 -- The 24-year-old New Jersey Man, Hadi Matar, the Chautauqua stabber of Salman Rushdie, 75, has been charged with second degree attempted murder and second degree assault and was arraigned Friday night and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail, DA Jason Schmidt said. Ralph Henry Reese, 73, was also injured in the attack. Rushdie is on a ventilator and unable to talk.
Item 2 -- Two men have been taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after both were shot in the leg overnight during a party at a residence on Eagle Harbor Road outside the village of Albion, the Orleans county Sheriff’s Office said today. The victims are Delonta Curry and Dominic Otero, both 21, of Batavia and Albion, respectively, said Sheriff’s Office Lt. Steven Fox. He said the call about the shooting came in at 1:58 a.m. Saturday. The 100-200 Party goers were intoxicated and uncooperative. Only one shell casing was recovered even with the help of a shell-casing K-9 dog.
