Fugitive arrested for illegal gun, stolen hedge trimmer, ammo.
A man faces several charges following a pair of searches in Wyoming County.
Deputies stopped to check on a disabled vehicle on Route 246 at Burke Hill Road in Perry July 5. Jeremy Rung, 40, of Arcade, was found to have a suspended and expired driver's license.
During a search of Rung's vehicle, deputies found a hedge trimmer reported stolen out of New Jersey, along with an empty handgun holster and multiple boxes of ammunition.
Rung was found to have criminal convictions in both New York and Texas. Deputies also found an active arrest warrant for Rung out of Texas, but officials there declined to have him extradited.
A search of Rung's home led investigators to find an illegal semiautomatic handgun.
Rung is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation and unlicensed operation.
Rung was issued appearance tickets. He's due in Perry Town Court Wednesday and Arcade Village Court Thursday.
