Entertainment and Fun at Perry Farmers Market:

Summer Saturdays Arts Series returns

The Summer Saturday Art Series is back with its eclectic mix of music, art and entertainment at the Perry Farmers’ Market.

“We have some new demonstrators. The musicians are mostly going to be favorites of people,” said Meghan Hauser, event coordinator. “Our audiences let us know if they like this act or that act, so we try to give them an opportunity to hear them once a year in Perry.”

And a good audience response is always welcome. Hauser said there are certain bands people get up to, which brings a lot of pleasure to the market to see that kind of activity.

There will also be new demonstrators this year. Hauser said they have a potter who is coming back that hasn’t been at the farmers market in awhile. There is also a mobile knitting van, where people can bring their knitting and join in.

Demonstrators will range from someone doing stained glass to master gardeners.

Musicians go from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and the market goes from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Demonstrators also start at 10 a.m.

The schedule of artists and demonstrators are the following:

• June 25: Rob Falgiano, lyrical originals and guitar, and Linda Franke, a fiber artist.
• July 2: Gordon Munding, southern blues and country mountain music, and Wooly Wonders, a spinning demonstration.
• July 9: 9:30-11 a.m. Kelly’s Old Timers, 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Creek Bend, 1:30-4:15 p.m. Skiffle Minstrels will be playing during the Perry Chalk Art Festival. Elise Kelly will be performing on the Farmers’ Market Stage 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• July 16: The Biggest Little Band will have The Quigleys, Sue Swanson will be weaving, Don Gasiewicz will have mushrooms and Stephanie Luders will have a 4-H program.
• July 23: Dark Road Duo, blues and country music, Shake on the Lake will be at 9:45 a.m. Knit Buffalo Mobile will have a yarn van for people to come in and knit.
• July 30: Steve West, blues and unique interpretations of musical favorites.
• Aug. 6: Maria Gillard, playing earthy folk originals, and Bonnie Dupont doing stained glass.
• Aug. 13: Ben Haravitch playing Benny Bleu, country blues guitar, old-timey banjo, and existential song writing. 
• Aug. 20: Laura Faggiano and Daniel Hoh playing folk and blues and Master Gardeners John Glenn and Trisha Morris-Kopinski.
• Aug. 27: Johnny Bauer covering all musical bases with vocals and guitar.
• Sept. 3: The Band Anastazja, a family band playing old-time music, while Sarah Ballinger shows English paper piecing and Paul Thomas is at the potter’s wheel.
• Sept. 10: Warren Paul playing popular and original songs on guitar and harmonica while J. Brian Pfeiffer demonstrates sculpting with stone and concrete.
• Sept. 17: Absolute Maybe consisting of Janet Grillo and Daniel Hoh playing upbeat songs that embody hope. The Hexie Club will be doing a English paper piecing demo.
• Sept. 24: Folk O’ the Road playing traditional American music.

The market is held on Main Street in Festival Plaza — between Borden and Dolbeer — and hosts 15-20 vendors offering an array of fresh fruits and vegetables, maple and honey products, meats, fresh baked breads, fry cakes, cookie, and pies, locally roasted coffee, cut flowers and hanging baskets, herbs, eggs, certified organic chickens, and other unique and homemade products.
