Wellsville woman found
passed out in vehicle
Chief Michael J. Grover reports the arrest of Samatha D. Barnett, 38, of Wellsville, N.Y., following an investigation by the Perry Police Department. Sgt. Blake Russell received a report of a female passed out in her vehicle in the Crosby’s parking lot on South Center Street around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday May 3, 2022.
Barnett did wake up upon police arrival but was acting strange.
Sgt. Russell requested Barnett submit to standardized field sobriety tests, to which she complied. Barnett could not perform the tests as instructed and admitted to consuming narcotics as well as THC-infused food shortly before driving. Barnett was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) who indicated that she was in fact impaired by drugs.
Barnett is charged with DWAI/drugs and DWAI/drugs-combo. She is due back in Perry Village Court on June 7, 2022, at 1:00 pm.
