A village trustee and community leader has been arrested and charged with possessing child pornography, state police said.
Darren D. Wilson, 61, was arrested Monday and charged with 10 counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
The arrest came after a tip from Internet Crimes Against Children April 11. The tip said that Wilson was possibly involved in child pornography.
On May 10, police received more information that Wilson possessed “multiple unregistered pistols,” troopers said. He was additionally charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The weapons charge is a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison. The child porn charge carries a sentence of up to four years.
Wilson is heavily involved in the community. He has been a trustee on the Village Board since 2018. He is current president of Lyndonville Area Foundation and Lyndonville Lion’s Club.
