After School Participants Were Still in the Building:
Remember the families of the two gun shot victims in Wednesday's McKinley High School parking lot shootings

A shooting took place on school grounds but not inside the McKinley High School on Elmwood Ave. near Middlesex Road, between the 198 and Amherst Street in Buffalo. A McKinley student and a school security officer were shot. The shooter, unidentified at this point, escaped down Elmwood Ave. causing Buffalo State College to be put on high alert (hunker down in place) and cancel evening activities. McKinley was put on lockdown with dozens (up to 100) on the floor in the Cafeteria.

The injured student was rushed to Oshei Children's Hospital and taken rapidly into surgery. The injured security guard was shot in the leg and was taken to ECMC where he suffered a non-life-threatening injury. Both local news media and national networks carried the story since the tragedy took place on school grounds and involved at least one McKinley student and a McKinley security guard. Regular broadcast programming in the Buffalo regional area was preempted by the live coverage for over three hours.

The two victims, their parents and families, and all of the police agencies, city county, and FBI, should be held high in our concerns and prayers for healing, comfort, and assistance in finding the shooter who remains at large at least as of early this evening.
