A Corfu man was killed early Saturday morning after the vehicle he was operating struck a utility pole on Route 77 in the town of Pembroke, reports the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office.
The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting the accident at 3:05 a.m. When deputies arrived on the scene it was determined that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was deceased, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The driver was identified as Jordan E. Terkel, 32, of Corfu.
Terkel was traveling southbound on Route 77 when the vehicle traveled off the east shoulder of the roadway, striking a utility pole, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Genesee County Coroner Karen Lang pronounced Terkel dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident. Assisting at the scene were members of the Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments.
