In-Home Test Kits Being Distributed Across NYS through BOCES this week
New York State has distributed Covid-19 Rapid Antigen Tests through the BOCES system across New York State.
In Genesee Valley, BOCES coordinated the pickup, having parents sign in and keeping the record of the disribution. It was the parents' choice whether to take advantage of the test kit distribution. THe goal is that parents will have one test kit for each of their children.
Genesee Valley districts explained in an email that if kids are exposed to Covid or are exhibiting symptoms, parents can administer the test at home. As of Monday afternoon one Genesee Valley district had about 2,000 Covid-19 test kits available which was a one-per-student allotment. The email continues:
“Your child should be tested if they have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or is sick with any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, body ache, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea,” the district said in the message it sent out to parents that morning. Those who didn’t have transportation could call 585-343-2480, ext. 1004 and leave a message with their contact information.
