Board of Supervisors Conducts Annual Organizational Meeting:
Ryan re-elected chairwoman of the Wyoming.County.Board.of..Supervisors

REBECCA RYAN has been elected to her second full term leading the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors.

Ryan, who also serves as Warsaw town supervisor, was re-elected nearly unanimously Monday during the board’s annual organizational meeting. Supervisors Michael Roche of Eagle and David Granger of Gainesville abstained from the measure.

Ryan was first elected as the Board of Supervisors chairwoman in September 2020. She replaced Supervisor Jerry Davis of Covington, who stepped down as chairman citing personal reasons.

Davis has since served as vice chairman and was re-elected to that role on Monday. Granger and Roche again abstained from the vote.

In other matters:

■ Longtime Board of Supervisors Clerk Cheryl Ketchum was reappointed.

■ The assembled supervisors and several county officials — including Sheriff Gregory Rudolph, Public Defender Norman Effman and Treasurer Cheryl Mayer — took their annual oaths of office.

Rudolph said he’s fortunate to have a terrific undersheriff in David Linder, along with the county’s deputies, and noted their professionalism in daily service.

“It’s no secret law enforcement has grown more difficult for many reasons, but it’s been my experience that with particularly this board, and this community, we have seen the opposite,” Rudolph said. “This board, whether financially or morally, has been overwhelming. I can give you countless examples of kind gestures we’ve seen for many months, and for that I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you.”

Effman said he’s been public defender since 1990. He says it’s been a pleasure to serve because the county believes in justice and due process.

■ Ryan congratulated Jennifer M. Wilkinson of Attica, who was appointed in December to a two-year term as Wyoming County’s first-ever female county attorney.n citing personal reasons.

Davis has since served as vice chairman and was re-elected to that role on Monday. Granger and Roche again abstained from the vote.
