The Biennial Silver Lake Experience Does Presentations on William Pryor Letchworth; Here is a brief sample
Today [Dec. 1st] marks the anniversary of the day William Pryor Letchworth left this world, but his giving spirit lives on in both the work he did and the land he left for all of us to enjoy. Many people don't know that Mr. Letchworth was a pioneer in the field of epilepsy when it was a vastly misunderstood condition. As commissioner of the New York State Board of Charities and later its president, he established Craig Colony, America's first comprehensive epilepsy facility. Those of us who have worked so hard to bring The Autism Nature Trail (The ANT) to Letchworth State Park believe Mr. Letchworth would be proud to have a first-of-its-kind experience in nature for persons on the spectrum located in his gorgeous Park.
