Fire caused an estimated $375,000 in damage and destroyed two barns Friday at Perry’s Lower Farm, 643 Armbrust Rd., Sheldon. The fire was reported at 9:21 a.m. Eight fire departments responded to the scene, with two units on stand-by as the blaze kept firefighters at the scene for seven hours.
Two connecting barns along with multiple items being stored inside the barn were destroyed in the fire, according to the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No animals were kept inside the barn. No injuries were reported.
Fire companies that responded to the scene were Sheldon, Strykersville, Arcade, Harris Corners, Bennington, North Java, Wales Center and Holland. Also assisting on-scene were Wyoming County Emergency Services, Wyoming County Sheriff’s, Sheldon and Strykersville Squad-10, Wyoming Correctional Facility and NYSEG. Units standing by were Chaffee and Sardinia.
