AUTISM NATURE TRAIL DEDICATION is set for today at Letchworth State Park. The Autism Nature Trail has long been a dream. Not just for park and state officials, but for families who have long awaited such a resource. And now about to become a reality. This innovative and first-of-its-kind trail is set to be dedicated today. The ceremony will end a process which began more than five years ago with the announcement of a public-private fundraising effort. The Autism Nature Trail, or ANT, is designed to support and encourage sensory perception, while also providing enjoyable activities for visitors of all abilities and ages. The trail loop features eight stations offering a range of experiences from quiet engagement to active exploration and adventure.

BICYCLIST BRINGS KIDNEY DONATION MESSAGE TO MEDINA -- Mark Scotch, 65, spoke during an appearance Thursday at the Lake Plains Dialysis Center on Thursday morning in Medina to help educate people about the process. He and others are bringing awareness of kidney disease and living donations as the service celebrates its 25th anniversary. Mark is once again hitting “The Organ Trail.” The marathon bike ride is from Massachusetts to Wisconsin. Scotch is from Plover, Wisconsin. The Dialysis Center has locations in Medina and Batavia. The Batavia location serves Genesee and Wyoming counties. Between the two centers, the team provides more than 15,000 treatments every year. Each patient visits their centers an average of 56 times per year.

CAR CRASH WITH TRACTOR TRAILER IN PEMBROKE -- Arnold E. Herdendorf, 69, of Lockport was westbound in his car about 1:47 p.m. Wednesday on Indiana Falls Road, Genesee County sheriff’s deputies said. He failed to stop at the intersection and his car collided with a tractor-trailer driven northbound on Route 77. The two vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection and struck a National Grid utility pole, deputies said. Herdendorf and passenger Christpher M. Rowell, 70, were pronounced dead at the scene. Tractor-trailer driver Kebir S. Inalla, 30, of Louisiana and passenger Ahmed A. Jaber, 38, escaped injury. A Sheriff’s Office investigation is continuing with help from the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit.
