Shake on the Lake receives grants totaling $20,000
Shake on the Lake has received two grants for $10,000 each. The grants were awarded through the “Restart NY: Rapid Live Performance Grants” program, developed by the New York State Council on the Arts. They were for Shake on the Lake’s Storefront Theatre Festival and Shake on the Lake Presents: Songs & Sweet Airs, a celebration of songs, sonnets, puppetry and comedy.
Pilar McKay, Shake on the Lake’s managing director, said grants are intended to get theatre companies like Shake on the Lake back into production. She said Shake on the Lake sees this as their ability to turn around and perform again. Josh Rice, co-foudner of Shake on the Lake, said they’re really grateful the state continues to recognize art in rural places is important. Courtesy mdiefenbach@batavianews.com
