Family Summer Excursion:
Trolley rides resume at Museum
of Transportation in Rush June 27
The scenic two-mile round trip ride aboard the vintage electric trolley car harkens back to the interurban era of a century ago. Back then, fast, clean transportation on luxurious trolleys was offered between Rochester and distant cities such as Buffalo, Syracuse and Geneva. The museum has several such trolley cars on display.
Other artifacts on display at the museum include a steam locomotive, the Midtown Plaza Monorail, highway and horse drawn vehicles. The museum also features three model railroads and numerous exhibits. The museum gallery offers a 10-minute video about the Rochester Subway.
The museum is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trolley rides depart at 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30. Admission, including the ride, is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors 65 and older, and $6 for youths age 3 to 12. For more information, go to www.nymtmuseum.org, email
