78 Months in Federal Prison:
Pavilion grad and former teacher’s aide headed to federal prison for child porn

CHRISTIAN M. STUTES

A former Pavilion man who worked as a teacher’s aide was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to 78 months in federal prison for possessing and distributing child pornography.

Christian Michael Stutes, 25, a 2014 graduate of Pavilion High School who was last living in Rochester pleaded guilty in September to receipt and distribution of child pornography and had faced as much as 20 years.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire said that between April 12 and Dec. 13, 2019, Stutes engaged in sexually explicit conversations via text message with an individual he believed to be the father of a 10-year-old male. The individual was actually an undercover FBI agent. During their conversations, Stutes discussed paying $150 to have sex with the boy.

The agent received a text message from Stutes and during the text conversation, Stutes stated he was into young boys, 7 to 9 years old. The conversation ended with the undercover agreeing to allow the defendant to have sexual contact with the fictitious kids for $200 for each child. Stutes stated he would have to save up the money.

In August of 2019, Stutes contacted the agent again stating that he had enough money now, and was interested in having sexual contact with a young boy. The agent and Stutes agreed to meet on Aug. 30, 2019, with the defendant agreeing to pay $150 in exchange for having sex with the agent’s fictitious 9-year-old son. However, later that day, Stutes contacted the agent and stated that he no longer had $150 available and he did not attempt to meet the agent.

The agent and the defendant did not have contact again until Dec. 2, at which time Stutes stated that he had a good paying job and “i can actually afford the deal we talked about with Adam ... If that’s still cool.” Stutes traveled to Brighton Dec. 13 to meet the boy and was arrested. Agents seized his cell phone and found 61 videos and 450 images of child pornography. Some of the images included prepubescent minors, as well depictions of violence, including the rape of a toddler.

At the time of his arrest, Stutes was working as a teacher’s aide and had also worked at various children’s camps.
