Supreme Court to hear appeal of NY gun carry lawsuit -- The Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear an appeal to expand gun rights in the United States in a New York case over the right to carry a firearm in public for self-defense. The case marks the court's first foray into gun rights since Justice Amy Coney Barrett came on board in October, making a 6-3 conservative majority.

COVID-19 cases fall 24% in New York -- New coronavirus cases fell 24% for the week ending Sunday, declining from 42,318 to 32,181 new cases over the past two weeks. Still, the figures showed that New York ranked 10th among states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. New York's rate of decline, though, outpaced the national decline. Nationally, coronavirus cases fell 13.8% from the week before.
