Fisherpersons? Way to cumbersome. If you want to pursue the ridiculous current culture of sanitizing any work that may offend the many thin-skinned and politically correct folks out there (like those who want to get rid of Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead), why not use the term "ANGLERS instead of fisherpersons, unless of course you want to stir things up.
I agree with you. From the very moment I tried being "inclusive" through the use of that awkward term, I was bothered by my choice and returned to change it to the traditional term even before noticing your comment. Usually, I prefer to address the position as we do with God, Savior, President, Vice President, Representative, Senator, Doctor, Attorney, Reverend, Pastor, etc. In other words, why bring an individual's sex into the discussion when it isn't relevant? I also like your suggestion of Angler.
