GETTING THE COVID VACCINE TO RURAL WESTERN NEW YORK COMMUNITIES FALLING BEHIND -- Allegany County has the lowest percentage of New Yorkers who have received the first dose of the vaccine. Their rate of first dose to the population is 8.4%. Wyoming County's rate of first dose to its population is 11.8%, also considered on the very low side. But the real story is the one which has eligible seniors over 65 years of age still waiting for their first dose. They are being told the supply is simply not available yet. When yours truly signed up in January, I was told first of all, that the week I called the location had received no delivery of vaccine at all, and when deliveries would begin, there were 700 ahead of me, so it would be sometime in March before I could get my appointment, though they could not say beginning or end of March.

GENESEE, ORLEANS AND WYOMING COUNTIES ASK CUOMO FOR REGIONAL VACCINE CLINIC -- The legislative leaders and public health directors of Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming Counties have sent a letter to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo urgently requesting the designation of a regional mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Genesee Community College. The location would be easily accessible from all three counties and is urgently needed at this point. They have not yet heard back from the Governor's office.

WYOMING COUNTY IS AT RISK OF A COVID OUTBREAK according to the Covid Act Now Tracking Group. The risk registers half way on the scale between slight and urgent (orange). It is due to the growing positive cases occurring and the lack of adequate vaccines not being currently administered due to what is still being labeled as a shortage.

Some have traveled to the Rochester area and have managed to get appointments, but if the urban areas have more than what they need for their residents, there should be vaccines available for the rural areas. Perhaps the rural areas must begin bugging the Governor's Office beyond just having their representatives requesting it. Question: How do I contact the governor's office in New York? Answer: Phone Number (518) 474-8390 (business hours: Monday - Friday: 9 am - 5 pm.

CHARGES ARE PENDING FOR A DRIVER deputies say led them on a car chase that ended in a crash in Mount Morris Friday morning. According to the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, a deputy tried to stop the car in the Town of Mount Morris around 4 a.m., but deputies say the driver didn't stop and tried to get away. The driver wound up crashing into a building in the village. The driver was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, but is expected to survive, nobody else was hurt. In addition to the chase, police found suspected cocaine on the scene. The driver was wanted on drug charges out of Rochester. The driver's name has not been released.
