Contemplating the Degrees
of Winter Darkness, and the Holidays

Although this is a photo of a post-sunset, it is significant that it is occurring after 5 pm in the afternoon and we are more than a full month away from the shortest day of the year. The Lake reflects the limited light of the afternoon sky. There actually is quite a bit of light present here around the Lake. On the other hand, if you live up farther on the hill (east of Perry Ave.) or further up the basin area, one can look out their window and see darkness already. Thanksgiving is one week away--it's later than you may think for the holiday season!
