Thursday is former President Jimmy Carter's 96th birthday, marking another year for the longest living former president. Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, plan to celebrate at home in Plains, Ga., a spokeswoman for the Carter Center told the Associated Press.
As of last year, the Carters are also the longest-married presidential couple in history. They've been married 74 years.
Carter underwent brain surgery last November due to internal bleeding. The procedure was successful and Carter's first public appearance after was at his long-time church, where he teaches Sunday school.
