With a Rebuild in Sight, We pause to
Take a Look at Our Statistical Past #3

The Password Page, set up in the Spring of 2018, was established for residents of the Silver Lake Institute to learn information about the type of detail regarding life and living on Institute Grounds that would not ordinarily be of interest to the general public or which residents or Trustees would prefer not to be publicized beyond the community in which they live. (The SLDNewsletter is willing to set up a password page for any other Silver Lake entity that would like to utilize the private service without charge.)

An interesting phenomenon has very recently developed, whereby the relatively low number of SLI residents taking advantage of this private password page service, suddenly and without comments, ceased returning to the password page on July 1, 2020, and have continued their absence to the date of this writing, September 15, 2020. It has been suggested in informal conversations that because of NYS Covid-19 rules regarding numbers of people gathering together, and since this year's Trustee meetings were no longer open to the residents including the cancellation of the annual cottage/property owners' meeting, the one which always contains the residents' opportunity to elect new Trustees, the question came up as to why a mailed or otherwise distributed ballot for the election (to be returned by the residents) could not have been conducted? A second concern by a few--in light of closed meetings--wondered why any independent Press with private Password Page was not being more fully utilized while the official website was not yet ready?

SLDN Editor's Notes: (1) We tried raising as many questions about each month's meeting so we could inform the residents, but without a comprehensive agenda, if was difficult to imagine what was going to be discussed. (2) This is now a moot issue since the questions did not take on any additional public interest, and the new SLI website is open and contains the main document in question.
