At last Tuesday's Village of Perry meeting, Perry Police Chief Michael Grover recommended posting eight new signs regarding drivers of golf carts using public streets. The original complaint was made by lake resident Joe Safford last month. Chief Grover has met with managers of the Asbury Retreat Center where some of the cart traffic originates. A full page ad was also placed in the Perry Shopper in an effort to inform the public of vehicles not deemed road worthy and/or non-registered. As of last Tuesday, it appears that some drivers remain uninformed or are actually ignoring these advisories in spite of patrols interacting with drivers and owners in order to bring them up to speed on vehicle protocols.
