This is one of the three trees to come down through the Tree Removal Permit Process authorized by SLI Board approval last Saturday. From the outside of the trunk, it appeared to be healthy. There were two indications that it actually was hiding its ill health by (1) swaying and bending heavily in various directions through a concentration of winds whisking through all the trees; (2) a significantly-sized limb off the main tree trunk appeared diseased because of its total lack of leaves on its crown. Sure enough, as the photo above indicates, those were two very good reasons for scheduling a take-down. Since its height was very considerable, the cottage owner feels very fortunate to have caught this before its demise caused any damage! (Better start saving your money now, this removal cost $3,500.00.)
