Charcoal Corral Welcomes Phase 3 Today with a Live Band in Drive-In

If it's Tuesday, June 16, 2020, then it's also New York State's Phase 3 in the re-opening procedure for both business and private enterprises, with special emphasis on indoor eating at restaurants, and a return to churches for worship, although limited by percentage of capacity. Phase 3 allows for gatherings of 25, but it is still advisable to gather outdoors and be well spaced indoors; masks are also still recommended.  Central NY, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, North Country and Southern Tier are now in phase 3. All other regions are in phase 1 or 2. It was three months ago today that NYS was shut down.

Today, the thumping of the big base drum and the melodies of such favorites as God Bless the U.S.A. rang through the trees on the western edge of the Twin Drive-ins Tuesday evening, and flowed over Thompson and Janes Avenues, carrying it on down to the residents on Ames, Haven, and Hamline Avenues, with its muted tones even making it to some residents west of Perry Avenue. It was a reminder of things to come. We were unable to see the extent of the attendance, but it was over in time for the first of the post-sunset film presentations.
