Here is the explanation that SLA President, Mark Emmerson, received for the cancellation of the July 3rd fireworks display… "We ask for your understanding in this unprecedented time of COVID-19," said Mr. Emmerson.
For Silver Lake followers and supporters here is a message from the Silver Lake Fireworks Fund (SLFF): "A celebration for an End-of-Summer Event is being planned. Stay tuned for updates. If you would like to Donate to this event send checks to: 'Silver Lake Fireworks Fund' or SLFF, c/o 7851 Route 39, Perry, NY 14530. Dedicated account is at Bank of Castile. TY so much! Follow the SLA FB Page for more details."
This communication from Lorraine Sturm, Editor & Publisher of the Perry Herald, explains what happened: "Having not heard about the state or county permitting fireworks displays like ours at the lake the show is not happening on July 3. Even if the state and county and towns okay July shows, there isn’t time for all the paperwork to be updated at my end. Joe Rivellino and I agreed on an end-of-summer show if they are allowed, the locals can issue permits, and Young Explosives and the fire department can fit it in their schedules. Then, there are contracts and insurances to redo and letters asking for donations to mail. There’s more ... I’ll let you know." Courtesy of Silver Lake Association and Fireworks Fund (SLFF)
