Annual ACWC Program Grants Awarded Last Night to Local Arts Providers

The Silver Lake Institute Program Committee applies each year to the Arts Council of Wyoming County (ACWC) for a program grant based on the quality and variety of the concerts, authors' presentations, hand-on art classes, dance classes, and other learning opportunities that improve the quality of life in beautiful Western New York. Last night was the annual program thanking everyone up and down the line for their hard work in bringing the classics and art to our rural areas--most of which is accomplished through volunteers.

The grants are part of the New York State Legislature's position and Gov. Cuomo's firm belief in quality of life issues through the arts and performing arts. In Western New York, it is hard to say that one does not have anything to do because there are many opportunities throughout the year and particularly during July and August for some very entertaining and educational programming which, other than class materials, is free to the public.

This year's award is for $2,000 and will assist in helping to pay the bills for this season's broad schedule. Tax-deductible contributions are also welcome at the Silver Lake Institute in general, or for a specific committee and can be sent to: S.L.I., P.O. Box 20, Silver Lake, NY 14549. Money directed to a specific committee should be noted in the line at the left bottom of your check.
