This is the 88th year in a row that the local Rotarian's are putting on their famous Rotary Show, part music, part comedy dialogue, part costume, and immensely entertaining! This year the Rotary Show is titled, "Silver Lake Beach Party," as the Rotarian's have been active in the current upgrading of the Perry Public Beach, off Walker Road, just north of the Silver Lake Institute. Performances will be at the Perry High School Auditorium on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 11th and 12th at 7:00 p.m. Adults are $8 pre-sale and $10 at the door.
Another long tradition is the Harvest Dinner prepared and served by the United Methodist Women of the UMC at 35 Covington St., corner of Short Street which is one block east of Main Street. This year is Nov. 2nd from 1:00 until sold out. Adults $10, Children $5 (12 and under), and Under 3 Free. Take outs are available. The menu includes Turkey and Fixings, Ham, Mashed Potatoes, corn, squash, cabbage salad, applesauce, rolls, pies, homemade desserts and coffee, tea and milk.
One of the two new events is the one-man play of "A Christmas Carol" for the benefit of Autism Nature Trail (The ANT) at Letchworth and is scheduled for Nov. 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the Koinonia Dining Hall at Asbury Camp & Retreat Center on Lakeside Ave. (parking access off Chapman Road). Tickets to raise funds for the ANT are $25 and fully tax-deductible. The other new event is the Fall Fun & Frolic put on by the SLI Mid-Winters Survivors Group for SLI residents. It will be Nov. 9th at 6:30 pm in Koinonia Dining Room. It features donuts, fry-cakes, hot & cold apple cider, hot coffee and tea. Informal with great company and conversations, games of spoons, scrabble, and a guest from Letchworth to brief us on their winter schedule of events which will then be published in this SLDN (Newsletter). $2 per person to cover the food and drink. SLI residents are welcome whether or not they eat and drink. Hope to see you there!
