Perry Center Fire Department (PCFD) Delivers, Sets Up Tent for SLE 2019

Shown above is one of the six PCFD members who volunteered to set up the 20x30 tent in Burt Park--which took all of 15 minutes. In the above photo you see Craig Bateman, Julie Hoffner, and Bill Schaefer observing the well-rehearsed operation. The view is from the south looking toward Embury Avenue. The tent is located between the playground and the baseball diamond, a few yards east of Perry Avenue. 

PCFD uses these shelter projects as a regular money making project of renting, setting up and tearing down tents, chairs, and tables. SLE has secured the tent for the entire four-day SLE event beginning Thursday and running through Sunday's free ending concert at 1:30 pm. This year the plan is to have most of audience/congregation, seated in their own lawn chairs outside of the smaller size tent either under the shade trees or in the open section under the sun. Saturday and Sunday's forecast is calling for clear days with no precipitation.

Worship on Sunday at 10:30 am will be set up in and around the tent where the Rev. Doug Wilson will be leading the service and the Rev. Mark Harris will be the Guest Speaker. Mark is also serving as one of the daily chaplains of SLE and serves regularly in Pennsylvania as a Hospice Chaplain.

The tent will be equipped with power for workshops, worship, and the Closing Big Band concert with Guy Mancuso. Craig Bateman is in charge of the power supply. Greg Franklin, seated in the gazebo out of the rain, assisted behind the scenes with the contracting, delivery, and final payment.
