Lakers Begin to Look Forward to SLI's Annual Letter, the Lake-wide Golf Tournament and SLE Registration

Maybe our thoughts just naturally turn to spring and the wonderful things it brings--warmth, flowers and green, the planting of crops, the streets and sidewalks begin to fill with walkers: Some eager to communicate warm greetings and others wanting to be left alone in their thoughts. It's all so inspirational. So, too, is our anxiousness to hear about some of the well planned programs, events, and concerts that will follow the peacefulness along with its necessary functions of spring.

New SLI residents will discover the annual letter arriving in an envelope which bears the reminder of our first responsibility as a community--our annual franchise fee--the original term used for our SLI taxes. This takes care of many of the basics of operating a successful year-round community. The letter, also known as the Epworthian, brings news of the details of our summer season and all for which we can look forward--most of which we do with our summer friends. The lake-wide version of the letter will appear in this Newsletter and its news feed.

This, being an odd-numbered year, is the third biennial of our mini-Chautauqua program known as the Silver Lake Experience; this year, August 8-11, 2019. Each this amazing opportunity for fun, learning, entertainment, and the making of new friends for SLI, manages to outdo itself with great programs, demonstrations, presentations, speakers, foods and deserts. So many qualified people are sponsored, while some volunteer, to be a part of this spectacular event including college professors, college graduates, and people also qualified by their years of dedication and experience in their field of interest. Watch this location for news of the opening of Silver Lake Experience's Registration for 2019. You won't want to miss it!

We also will be carrying events sponsored by the Silver Lake Association and its dedicated work to keep Silver Lake clean and healthful. Golfers will be watching for the Annual Golf Outing that is a lake-wide event raising money for a valuable cause. It is held at the very beautiful course at the Club [County Club] located on the western side of Silver Lake, along with its great restaurant with both inside and outside facilities, and the Club's upstairs meeting rooms.

Another lake-wide event growing in popularity is the annual Memorial Service for those lakers who have lost a loved one in the past 12 month period ending in late June. This is a candlelighting service with beautiful roses and a high quality chiming bell. This celebration of life and the naming of loved ones is held the last Sunday of July, 10;30 am in Epworth Hall and sponsored by the Inspirational Speakers Committee of SLI.
