Trump Absents himself from Veterans Day Events; Re-Counts of BallotsGoing Strong One Week Later

As an overseas war veteran, I served under Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter. In the active reserve, I was on stand-by alert during the Gulf Wars and served under Presidents Ronald Regan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. As different as each of these Commanders-in-Chief were, they were very much alike in their conduct as president and commander of all U.S. forces.



Donald Trump is different and unique. The uncertainty with which he conducts himself makes it more difficult for those under his command. Take, for example, this weekend when he chose not to be present at the 100th Anniversary of the End of WWI in France, although he had flown all the way there. Upon returning to Washington, he chose not to participate at the Arlington National Cemetery ceremonies honoring our war dead. I'm not sure what this all means, but for our Troops, I know how much it can be demoralizing.

Re-Counting activities are scheduled through this Friday, Nov. 16th, which is less than a week before the beginning of the Thanksgiving holidays. Each of the three days involved with the celebration of Veterans Day Remembrances were cluttered with news about the on-going counting of ballots. We thought we would find some relief from politics after election day. Not so. Once again Broward County seemed to be the one struggling with the greatest of difficulties. Judge Jack Tutor confirmed that no fraud existed nor any complaints of possible fraud.
