SLE Committee Skips Planning Meetings for November, December Holidays, Continues its Work by Email

The third biennial Silver Lake Experience (SLE) is just a little over eight months away, but preparations remain in full swing under the able leadership of co-chairs Kathy Schaefer and Sue Russell. The 2019 SLE is on the schedule for August 8-11 and once again is co-sponsored by the Silver Lake Institute (SLI) and the Asbury Retreat Center (ARC). All presentations, workshops, food tasting, entertainment, and optional activities are shared across the facilities of both organizations. Sign-in begins at Epworth Hall's ramp entrance on the corners of Chapman, Perry, and Janes Avenues, off NY Route 39.

For those interested in spending the full four-day event as a unique vacation, there are various types of overnight accommodations available--new facilities and others newly remodeled--with breakfast and lunch included in the registration. SLE (SLI and ARC) is located on the east shore of Silver Lake off NY Route 39 and includes wooded areas, heated swimming pool, boat tours, and cottage tours. Historic Epworth Hall, built in 1892 is where registration, entertainment, large workshops, and the Epworth Cafe is located. The building has most of its original decor in view as does Stoody Memorial Hall (1892) and Hoag Memorial Art Gallery (1895).

The SLE Committee has been working on SLE 2019 for over a year already and are now facing the beginning of their various deadlines in order to be ready for the start up of registrations in early 2019. All major elements of the total program are in place, but the hard work is in the details, the last minute changes, and the mechanics of keeping tract of it all. A new computer program has been obtained which should improve and enhance the registration process and handle other details. SLE is a volunteer project and it continues to be amazing at the amount of work and professionalism in action  for an all-volunteer effort.

Each new Silver Lake Experience (SLE) is based on the evaluations of past attendees. As the Committee becomes aware of the wants and needs of the community, it seeks to incorporate the suggestions and new ideas into the next SLE. The Silver Lake Experience is a quality event with presenters from many different life experiences including college professors donating their time and efforts, and those with recognized proficiencies such as photography, woodworking, flower arranging, and many others.

This newsletter-blog, the SilverLakeConnection.com will be releasing details of the program as they are released to the public early in 2019. To check out last year's schedule, go to www.silverlakeexperience.org.
