Contractors Engaged by Year End will Result in New Roof, Ventilation, and Drainage at Epworth for New Season

In the quietness of the "wintertime residency" and the distraction of the upcoming holidays, it's sometimes hard to imagine that we have a firm mapping out the details of a plan that will enable Epworth Hall to get a new roof this Spring. The plan will include adequate drainage that will direct the flow of rain water away from the building and down the hill or into existing storm drains. The plan will also include adequate ventilation inside the building to avoid premature aging of the new roof and providing a less heat intensive atmosphere inside the building. The expenses of this project will be covered by special grants but SLI is required to follow the rigorous rules that allow the grants to be paid.

Progress reports are not expected to be released publicly. Although a project manager is included in the overall plan, it was agreed that our Board of Trustees could also provide a project manager to satisfy the inquiries and progress wanted by the Board. Craig Bateman will serve as the SLI Project Manager. Any progress reports that are press-released by the Board will be communicated either to the public in this section, or to the residents in the password section of this newsletter-blog. The project is scheduled to be completed by Memorial Day 2019 thereby affecting the 2019 SLI Season in a very positive way.
