Letter from the Editor
To: My Faithful, Disinterested Reader

I really appreciate your faithfulness in reading the SilverLakeConnection.com (the newsletter-blog you are currently  reading). I am especially appreciative because I know that you are one of my critics and it is a healthful thing to have one or more critics in order to keep us on our toes. I may not know you by name, but I am always aware of your presence because I read your opinion on a regular basis through the check-box option known as "Not Interesting."  (I also read all comments marked "Anonymous," even though I have not been responding to Anonymous comments.)

I understand that your response may not be literal because there is not a large enough variety for the critic-reader from which to choose. I have been seeking to correct this but the Blogger system is having a problem in this area which does not allow us to currently enter and correct the current box of options. There are days when I wish you would resort to writing out a complete or at least more specific criticism in the Comment Section, but nevertheless appreciate hearing from you ever so briefly as opposed to not hearing from you at all

I estimate that you are unhappy with somewhere between 75% to 85% of all that is published here. This is not a criticism, but rather yet another basis for saying how much I appreciate your checking off an opinion box. It is both my critics and my compliment-ers that stimulate my thinking and keep me trying new things. Your opinion box always causes me to think of the many non-vocal and non-participating members of our SLI community--and especially at this time of the year when our summer residents are gone. Keep your comments and check marks coming so my efforts can always be striving for the cutting edge of news and interesting topics for the SLI community. Feel free to make recommendations and/or criticisms.

To the balance of the year-round residents: I think about you a lot during this "off season" time of the year when I have a lot more time to myself, and appreciate our contacts and conversations. I look forward to getting together with the Mid-Winter Survivors Party group as we plan for one or two gatherings again this year. The first will be a duplicate of last year's based on the old saying "don't try to fix that which isn't broken." Then we will conduct a poll as to whether or not you would enjoy a second gathering, its location, and other details.
