The season-opening SLI business meeting, scheduled for April 14, 2018 at the SLI Office-Garage, was cancelled the night before, due to a treacherous and heavy ice forecast covering the Western New York area. Although the ice storm did deliver various lower levels of ice coverage south of the Thruway, we learned that more substantial ice formed to the more northern areas of WNY. To avoid dangerous and difficult driving, particularly for those coming down from Rochester, Buffalo, and Batavia, the April 14th meeting was cancelled for safety reasons.
Business that was to be cared for at the April meeting will now be combined into the business meeting which is now scheduled for May 5th. The "regular" location for a May meeting would be Hoag Memorial, but so far this year, temperatures have remained unseasonably cold and snowy in April, so again the weather will be a factor for the May meeting.
