System Checks Going Well in New Blog, Name Transfers; New Blog will
Serve as Temporary Host

Dozens and Dozens of files (web pages) have been scoured and updated to free the new blog from entanglements with the Silver Lake Institute, and much as possible, and as per the agreement reached between new blog owner, G. Franklin, and the Silver Lake Institute. Most files have transferred without problems, some had to be repeated, and others wound up temporarily hidden among the normal chaos of such a massive work. Those "hidden" seem to be older files or files with other copies easily accessible, which are therefore not essential and we can wait on them resurfacing at a future point. The Server company will be engaged on Monday to begin the manual part of their process. The Servers will then take between 24 and 48 hours to "catch up" with the local blog site.

Mr. Franklin is temporarily hosting some of the web pages that he is sure SLI will not want to lose or even be without. They will be on the new site in a temporary "link" status until such time as the SLI gets a web site of their own where these files can "land" and be directly accessible from their site. These files include such pages as (1) "The Heritage Walkway" page which has photos of the bricks which families have purchased along with the stories the families wrote to be included, and the time consuming work that Sue Bristow put into typing and installing them; (2) the "Ames Walkway" page with the Board action of October 14, 2017 summer instructions on it and the last mapped plan for the walkway; such SLI administration pages as (3) Annual Meeting, (4) Budget, (5) Re-Stated Charter, (6) Instructions for Electronics Disposal; (7) the Epworthian page; (8) the 2002 Handbook; (9) the LRPC file; (10) the Real Estate statement prepared for Realtors and then approved by the Board; (11) the Renters agreement as found in the Handbook; (12) the Slip Waiting List; (13) a collection of Trustee photos over the years; (14) Minutes of the 2017 Board Meetings; (15) Minutes of the last two Annual Meetings; and (16) the Who's Who of SLI (officers, committee members, and basic SLI contact information containing a lot of type-setting.

All of these pages and others that have not come to the surface yet, have been serving the SLI residents who use the Blog. These links won't be in the way on the new Blog, so we will be happy to keep them in temporary link form until we receive further instructions on what to do with them, or to where they need to be transferred.

When the new Blog is switched over from "SilverLakeInstitute.org" to "MySilverLakeConnection.com", most of the practical work will be functional at which time the detailed paper work of legally and technically switching from one to the other will begin. The new blog should meet the standard requested by SLI to have the unofficial SLI website(s) appear clearly under different ownership than that of the SLI. We have agreed to it and are working our hardest to bring it about.

The "MySilverLakeConnection.com" (new) web site will continue to bring you news, events, and program schedules by the Silver Lake Institute, but will attempt to bring a bright new perspective making it more clear that it is from an unofficial perspective, and for the stated purpose of stimulating ideas and discussion with a bare minimum of controversy to which we are adverse. We will strive as much as possible and practicable for harmony, warmth, and friendship in our daily work.
