SLI's History Gave a Priority to Women's Social Issues; Would that Make a
Good SLE Workshop in 2019?

Yesterday's Social Justice article on the abuse of women and men by troubled and aggressive men, was dubbed as "inappropriate" for SLI publication by two (2) Blog Readers in the first 24-hour time period. The question, however, goes beyond the appropriateness of its publication here and extends to what we believe today's SLI should be dealing with in light of our history with the Women's Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.) located on our grounds from 1892 and working in conjunction with SLI for the next approximately 80 years.

Should a women's specialist in the area of abuse be invited to give an educational presentation during our regular season or should our Silver Lake Experience Planning Committee take up whether or not to sponsor a workshop in 2019. Two possible resources are the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence and the National Network to End Domestic Violence.

Should yesterday's article disappear, you will know that it received its third and final "inappropriate" check mark and was removed. Whether or not it winds up being removed, the subject matter remains and it is a serious Social Justice issue which, for the sake and safety of our local women, probably should not be ignored.
