As of 2:15 am this Monday morning, the National Weather Service (NWS) is keeping the Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 1 pm Monday. The Advisory is calling for 1 to 5 inches (earlier 1-6) of blowing, drifting snow while also forecasting a high temperature in the mid to upper 40s, specifically 46-48 degrees.
While we are well aware of snow storms at 40 degrees, the chances get considerably slimmer at 50 degrees. Travelers will of course not be amused by this amazing contrast. The rest of us will sit home or drive locally and observe either the described phenomenon or make note of the ever-changing forecast throughout the morning which will then be proclaimed as having been an accurate prediction!
Update - 10 am - Can barely tell it's "snowing," amount: a dusting. Just as I predicted just a matter of hours ago, they would be changing the forecast "throughout the morning" and now their snow forecast is stated in this way: "Periods of snow for at least 120 minutes." So I guess that takes care of the "blowing and drifting 1 to 5 inches!" As for the Winter Weather Advisory, it continues, just in a different area (Jefferson County east of Lake Ontario). But for the Erie and Wyoming County areas, it was never cancelled; it just disappeared.
