Report of 'Noxious Weed' to be Checked Out by DEC, Coop. Extension

Both the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Wyoming County Cooperative Extension are aware of the reported "noxious weed" allegedly located on the property at the corner of Wesley Ave. and Park Ave. Both have expressed concern since this is the precise time of year that these weeds go to seed and are then spread over other areas. Birds are notorious for the spread of noxious weed seeds.

Persons without adequate qualifications should stay away from suspected noxious weeds and under no circumstances touch these weeds. They are known for giving serious burns to the skin and damage to the eyes even to the extent of blindness. Representatives from the DEC plan to be at the Institute next week to examine the situation. Latest report is that it may not be "noxious weed," nevertheless, it is advised that you remain at a distance from it until it is checked out early this week.
