In Loving Memory

Velma Wallace Bliss, 102, of Warsaw formerly of Perry passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. Velma was born in Hume, NY on August 17, 1915 a daughter of the late John and Minnie (Beardsley) Hotchkiss.

She was a graduate of Gainesville High School. She retired from M&T Bank in Perry where she was a teller from 1959-1979.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Perry, the Mutual Friends Club in Perry and Order of Eastern Star Chapter # 497 in Perry.

She enjoyed playing bridge, crocheting, sitting on the front porch at 30 Lakeview Ave at Silver Lake visiting with friends and family, she loved visits from her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter: Sharon (Craig) Pratt of Webster, 2 grandsons: Douglas Pratt of Pittsford, Christopher (Diana) Pratt of Irondequoit, 3 great grandchildren: Timothy, Madelyn and William Pratt, Elwin’s children: Ron (Judy) Bliss of Concord, NC, Gloria (Cliff) Johnston Sr. of Bolivar, 3 sister-in-laws: Arlene Baker, Eleanor Quandt and Ruth Wallace all of Warsaw, along with many of Elwin’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband: Howard Wallace who passed in 1982, newborn son: Braden Wallace, second husband: Elwin Bliss who passed away in 1992, siblings: Maxine Latham, Pauline Bliss, Violet York and Merlin Hotchkiss, Elwin’s grandson: Cliff Johnston Jr.


Family and friends may call from 1-2pm on Saturday November 4th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry where services will follow at 2pm.

She will be laid to rest in Grace Cemetery in Castile, NY.
