SLE Member: 'We Need Some Young Blood in Here'; Asbury has it right:
Hire Young Blood for the Summer

Just watching the Asbury "Young Bloods" respond to the Silver Lake Experience's needs during the Mini-Chautauqua, 4-Day Event, this year, was positively awe-inspiring. I had pretty much forgotten what it was like to move that fast and get that much accomplished so quickly--all while not even breaking a sweat! Yes, I know, hiring creates budget concerns, but my guess is that there are probably some Young Bloods out there that were not as fortunate as to get 8-weeks of summer employment, so they just might be willing to settle for employment during the one or two weeks we need them the most--the week before and the week OF the SLE! Call it a social justice issue or call it helping a college kid get back to school in the fall. My guess is there just might be more money out there willing to help employ an older teen or younger 20's Young Blood if they knew it was helping a college student. I know that I'd make a tax-deductible contribution to help pay for some Summer Young Bloods on our side of Chapman!

Editor's Note: The question of "young blood" first raised in the headline was directed at SLI to put more attention to attracting younger people to our community of SLI as residents and volunteers. The headline actually provides for two entirely different conversations.
