LRPC Reps Talk to Real Estate Brokers who Admit Needing Help With Clients Interested in Purchasing SLI Properties

"Could you use help in talking to your
clients about SLI?" -- "Yes! I don't
actually know anything about it."
Just as we suspected--people arriving in the Institute with newly acquired SLI property knowing little or nothing about it. That's what we are getting verified from individual members of the Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) talking unofficially with individual brokers and franchised real estate companies.

After SLI dumped the entire interview process with prospective buyers because the old interview was too intrusive, they put nothing in its place to educate or welcome prospective buyers or to educate their real estate agents who they assumed would be answering the questions. But just who did we think was going to take over this abandoned process?

Some Real Estate companies like Re-Max did their best by passing outdated Handbooks out to prospective buyers who learned more about SLI being connected with Camp Meetings and the Methodist Church than they learned about the current realities of living out a vibrant and fulfilled lifestyle with the Institute.

A representative from one real estate company who asked not to be identified said he regularly turned down being given the outdated handbooks because he could count on them losing more clients than helping them answer their questions. He said no one wanted to read such a legal-form booklet talking about "do's" and "don't's" as opposed to talking to real people about real everyday concerns about purchasing in the Institute such as school bus routes, mail delivery, taxes or additional fees, closest stores (and/or closest quality stores) and municipal services.

One company boldly listed Castile as being the nearest municipal entity and place to shop and didn't mention the proximity of Perry as compared to Castile except for SLI children going to the Perry School system. Did you know that the beautiful new addition to the back of the Castile Library and invisible from the front, did not include any online research capability as the Perry Library does?

At times, answering "a zillion questions" in pamphlets can be almost as labor-intensive as the Handbook itself (which talks of no everyday factors at all), which is the reason for inviting prospective buyers to visit the people and activities of the Institute. That way you get fast answers to your questions without having to look them up or go researching the SLI "Welcome" pamphlets (none of which currently exist on an official level).

The SilverLakeNYNews.Blog has decided to pick up some of these loose ends that so profoundly effect the welfare and future of the SLI. The News.Blog already publishes an article designed for persons in the market for a home or cottage within the SLI. It can be accessed in the main menu (site map) under Institute----->> and then click on the "Real Estate" tab. That's part one of the Blog's short range plan. Part two is to be sure that real estate companies are aware of this advertising and community service plan, and also to offer it in email attachment that can be printed out at any real estate company for use with their clients. That is happening this week at the Blog. Part three of our short range plan is to add a section called Q&A for persons wanting quick to-the-point answers to their basic questions (as mentioned above) and also make this available in email attachment form and/or the ability to print it out. This is now available at the Q & A tab, but is also being worked on this week to convert it to a simpler, bullet format.

The Blog's long range plan is to organize a volunteer system for prospective buyers who actually do request an "Orientation/Welcome Meeting." This plan is more needed for during our winter months than in our summer months since there are so many more persons present and willing during the summer to talk to folks to get them informed and welcomed. We of course will make adjustments to our plans as any of the SLI official groups are willing or able to pick any parts of these vital parts of perpetuating a community interested in the performing arts and other cultural, educational, and spiritual opportunities.
