As announced by Pete Mairs, Chair of the Legal Committee, at yesterday's Annual Meeting of the SLI community (7-8-17), the 501C3 from the IRS has been approved and received by the Institute bestowing federal tax exempt status on our new, independent organization. This now re-entitles us to apply for a Historical Grant which, when approved, will enable us to begin the process for a new roof on Epworth Hall. The grant is contingent on an architectural study (Part 1 of the Grant) to ensure an adequate ventilation plan for the size of our roof, so as not to damage the new roof shingles to be installed after the second part of the Grant. The Chicken Barbecue proceeds will go toward the portion that we are expected to pay as part of the Grant arrangement.
